Honda CB150X as a Canggu daily

Published 13 Sept 2026

Most people who search for honda cb150x rental bali have already seen the photos: tall stance, beak over the front wheel, small screen, hand guards. Then they ask the same question at the counter — is it an adventure bike? The honest answer is that the CB150X is a 150cc road bike wearing adventure clothes. That is not a criticism. It is exactly why it works as a Canggu daily.

Treasure Bike Rental is a motorcycle shop on Jalan Raya Padonan in Tibubeneng, Canggu. We keep several CB150X units, so this is not a spec-sheet rewrite — it is what the bike is like after months of villa runs, school-hour traffic on Padonan, and wet-season afternoons. Rental rules are in the terms; this page is about the machine.

Upright daily

The riding position is the whole argument. Wide bars, pegs underneath you, a seat around 820 mm and roughly 136 kg to move around. You sit above Canggu traffic instead of peering through it, which matters more than horsepower when a truck parks itself in front of you on Jalan Raya Canggu and you need to see whether the oncoming lane is actually clear.

The engine is a 150cc single with a six-speed gearbox. It is not fast, and anyone coming off a Yamaha MT25 or a Honda CBR250RR will notice within a kilometre. What it is instead is unbothered: it pulls from low revs in second and third, which is where you spend most of your Canggu life, and it does not punish you for lazy shifting between speed bumps.

Three things make it a better daily than the numbers suggest:

  • Suspension travel. Canggu is painted speed bumps, broken tarmac at villa gates, and fresh gravel wherever someone is pouring a new driveway. The CB150X absorbs all of that instead of transmitting it through your wrists.
  • The screen. It is small and it does not keep rain off you. What it does is push wind off your chest at bypass speed, so a Canggu-to-Uluwatu run is less tiring.
  • Fuel. A 12-litre tank on a frugal 150 means a week of villa-to-cowork riding between fills. Fill at a petrol station: bottle fuel is not permitted on our bikes, and petrol in Canggu has the grade and the pump vocabulary.

Two-up works if your passenger can climb onto a tall-ish bike. Loaded with two people and a backpack on a hill toward Ubud it is slow — not unsafe, just slow. Plan the day accordingly and keep helmets on both heads.

The one honest drawback is seat height. If you are under about 165 cm you will tiptoe at lights, and a cambered road makes that worse. Mention it at handover instead of discovering it at the first junction.

Heat, rain and the maintenance side

Two things show up in every honest Canggu review and never in the brochures. First, heat: stuck behind traffic on Batu Bolong at 14:00, any liquid-cooled single gets warm and you feel it on your right shin. The upright position at least keeps air moving across you, which is more than a faired sportbike manages. Second, rain: the screen does nothing for a proper afternoon storm, so pull in and wait it out like everyone else — the first minutes are when painted lines and metal covers get treacherous.

On the shop side, the CB150X is cheap to keep honest. Chains, tyres and pads are standard parts that any Honda dealer in Badung stocks, which is why a month on one rarely turns into a swap. Tyre wear is the thing we watch most, because road rubber on rough village roads is what actually degrades over a long rental.

Light adventure, not a dirt bike

This is the part where we talk people out of things. Search adventure bike Canggu and you get results that suggest a big-bore machine with spoked wheels and a plan involving riverbeds. That is not this bike, and pretending otherwise gets guests hurt and deposits argued over.

The CB150X rolls on 17-inch wheels with road tyres front and rear. The beak, the hand guards and the tall silhouette are styling on a street chassis. Read it as a comfortable road bike with extra ground clearance, and it never disappoints you.

Where it genuinely earns the adventure label:

  • unpaved villa lanes and hard-packed dirt shortcuts through the rice fields
  • gravel spread across the road by construction, which is constant in Pererenan
  • wet tarmac and long hill days toward Tabanan, Jatiluwih or Munduk
  • potholes deep enough to make a sportbike rider stand on the pegs

Where it does not:

  • beach sand, which strands 17-inch road tyres as effectively as any other road tyre
  • mud tracks and rutted trails after rain
  • anything you would describe as off-roading rather than a rough road

Off-road use outside designated areas is prohibited under the rental terms, and that clause exists because road tyres on a wet trail end predictably. If you want more touring pace and presence on sealed roads, the adventure bike hub also lists larger machines — the CB150X is the lighter daily end of that category, not a compromise version of a big one.

CB150X vs XSR155

This is the comparison we have most often, because both bikes sit in the same 150-class, both are geared, and both are priced close together. The cb150x vs xsr155 decision comes down to posture and purpose, not performance.

Choose the Honda CB150X if you want:

  • an upright commanding view over traffic
  • more suspension travel for village roads and potholes
  • a small screen for longer days and faster roads
  • a taller, roomier cockpit if you are over about 180 cm

Choose the Yamaha XSR155 if you want:

  • a lower seat, which helps shorter riders and stop-start beach-road riding
  • a neo-retro look, or one of the Treasure Garage custom builds
  • a slightly revvier feel and a more compact bike to thread through parked scooters

Neither is the wrong answer for Canggu. If you are picking between models and still undecided, both hubs show live availability for your dates, and we would rather answer two questions in chat than swap a bike on day three.

Monthly rider fit

The CB150X is the bike we suggest most often for 30-day bookings, and the reasoning is unglamorous. Comfort compounds over a month. A riding position that is merely acceptable for a weekend becomes the reason you stop riding by week three, and an upright bike with real suspension travel is still pleasant on day twenty-eight of commuting between a villa and a cowork.

The practical side of a long stay:

  • Pricing. Choose about 30 days on the catalog calendar to see the monthly tier, or open the monthly motorbike rental in Bali page for long-term rates.
  • Choice of unit. We keep several CB150X bikes, so colour and model year are usually negotiable, and busy dates are easier to cover than on a single-unit model.
  • Servicing. Report a noise, a soft tyre or a warning light early rather than at return. A month of riding means a service window inside the rental, and we would rather book it than inherit it.
  • Extensions. Extensions must be requested and paid before the booked period ends. Early return does not refund unused days — that is in the terms.

Nothing about a monthly changes the rider requirements. You still need a motorcycle license, an IDP if you are a visitor, and the passport used for the booking. Detail is on the license and IDP guide and in the terms.

Booking one in Canggu

Live availability and the deposit amount for each unit are on the Honda CB150X hub. Pickup is at the shop: Treasure Bike Rental, Jalan Raya Padonan, Banjar Tibubeneng, Kel. Tibubeneng, Kec. Kuta Utara, Kab. Badung, Bali. Hours are Monday to Saturday 09:00–17:00 WITA; Sunday is closed. Villa delivery in the Canggu zone, meaning Berawa, Pererenan and Tibubeneng, is free; other zones are priced at checkout.

Set your dates first, then pick the bike. A CB150X that is free next Tuesday may already be out for your Friday arrival.

Ridden for what it is — a light, upright, road-going 150 with good suspension — the CB150X is the least dramatic and most useful motorcycle in the Canggu fleet. That is high praise for a daily.

Common questions

  • Is the Honda CB150X a good bike for everyday riding in Canggu?

Yes, it is one of the easiest bikes in our fleet to live with. Upright bars, a small screen and long-travel suspension suit villa lanes, broken road edges and the daily crawl on Jalan Raya Canggu. It is a 150cc single, so it is comfortable rather than fast.

  • Should I rent a CB150X or an XSR155?

Take the CB150X if you want an upright riding position, longer days in the saddle and more suspension travel for rough village roads. Take the XSR155 if you prefer a lower seat, a neo-retro look, or one of the Treasure Garage custom builds. Both are 150-class geared motorcycles, and neither is a scooter.

  • Can I take the CB150X off-road?

No. It has 17-inch wheels with road tyres front and rear — the beak and the tall stance are styling, not dirt-bike hardware. Unpaved villa lanes and hard-packed dirt are fine. Sand, mud tracks and deliberate off-road riding are not, and off-road use outside designated areas is prohibited under the rental terms.

  • Do you rent the CB150X monthly?

Yes. Choose about 30 days on the catalog calendar to see the monthly tier, or open the monthly motorbike rental page for long-term rates. It is the model we suggest most often for 30-day bookings.

  • Does the CB150X have ABS?

It depends on the unit and model year. Check the bike card for the exact unit or ask us on WhatsApp before you book if braking hardware matters to you.

  • How tall is the seat, and will I reach the ground?

The seat sits around 820 mm, taller than most street bikes in the fleet. Riders under about 165 cm usually tiptoe at lights. It is manageable, but say something at handover so we can show you how to plant a foot on a cambered road.

Super nice staff and a great place to rent a bike while you’re in Bali. I can definitely recommend these guys and their shop. Yan always helps me and takes care of everything whenever I need a bike. I’ve already been renting from them for five months and I’m completely satisfied. The bikes are always in perfect condition, and you can also stop by, have a coffee, and enjoy some good moments with the staff and all the bikes around. It feels like more than just a rental place. Highly recommended!

I rented a Honda CBR250RR from these guys and had a great experience. The bike was in excellent condition, clean, well-maintained, and a pleasure to ride. The whole rental process was smooth and easy, and the team was friendly, responsive, and helpful throughout. I rode the bike for a week and was so impressed that it actually convinced me to buy my own CBR250RR afterward. 😄
